Linear units for seventh axis operations

Linear units for seventh axis operations

Keywords KUKA, Robots

To give added flexibility to robot use, KUKA Welding Systems + Robot Limited, build a number of linear units known as the KL-range. These add the facility for horizontal movement of industrial robots, introducing a seventh axis of operation and increasing the size of the work envelope.

Linear units also enable the robot to function over a number of separate in-line work stations.

  • The KL linear unit range comprises:

  • The KL 250 for small robot payloads;

  • The KL 1500 for medium and high robot payloads.

KUKA linear units can be ordered for floor, or a wall/ceiling mounted application. The drive system is electromechanical with brushless AC servomotors. Maximum rated travel is approximately 30m for both constructions, with a step-by-step graduation of 500mm.
