Five more ATM de-mould robots for Yuasa battery

Five more ATM de-mould robots have been ordered by Yuasa Battery (UK) Limited for its Ebbw Vale factory. The order was placed following the success of two ATM electric drive robots, installed a few years ago, in raising throughput and quality consistency in its injection moulding department.

Fitted to injection machines of 420 tonnes lock, the ATM EX-S 2000 NC robots have given Yuasa Battery much improved positional accuracy, a factor which contributes to reducing the "dies open" time and increasing output.

The five new robots comprise ES 1000 and ES 2000 models with electric drive on all three axes, and two off AES 1000 having electric drive on the beam (X axis).

Yuasa Battery Ltd manufacture rechargeable lead/acid batteries and the associated plastics mouldings. Its in-house moulding department is equipped with injection machines from 50 tonnes to 550 tonnes clamp force, producing a wide variety of parts from typically very small components from a 12-impression mould to parts weighing as much as 2 kg.
