Users of grippers on robots, pick-and-place machines and automated assembly plant can improve jaw grip still further with a special new self-adhesive tape.

The tape is available in the UK from Leader Grippers, Chertsey and is just one of a vast range of gripper products manufactured in Germany by precision workholder, Sommer Automatic.

Construction is from an impregnated cotton weave, overlaid with a special layer of silicon. This provides a higher coefficient of friction between the gripper jaws and the workpiece, than that derived from the jaws alone.

Leader says its new tape is ideal for use with any jaw style, round, flat or even irregularly-shaped and application could not be easier. Just cut in sections to correspond with the jaw profile. Then apply and press hard for an instant slip-free grip that keeps the workpiece securely in place.
