Leading automation specialist Modular Industries has acquired long established robotics firm Pressflow in a deal that promises to offer excellent growth opportunities for both businesses.
The alliance, part of the Group's strategy to set world-leading standards in providing automation solutions, will be managed by its conveyor and flexible handling division, Modular Handling, who will integrate the 20-strong Pressflow workforce into its state-of-the-art headquarters in Birmingham. Pressflow has forged a niche market in gantry robotics over the last 20 years, and has enjoyed considerable success in the fastmoving plastics industry (see Plate 3).
Modular Handling's Managing Director, Gary Frost said:
We are combining Pressflow's gantry robotics solutions with our patented Linkline conveyor systems to explore new market opportunities and will be looking to attract customers with this "added-value" approach to manufacturing processes. Bringing Pressflow into the Modular portfolio of services will offer manufacturers one of the most comprehensive automated handling solutions available anywhere in Europe.
Roger Austin, Pressflow's Sales Director, shares Gary's optimism for the new alliance saying: "As part of the award-winning Modular Industries Group, both Modular Handling and its Pressflow brand will looking to capitalise on recent successes over the next few months. We have looked closely at the synergy between the two companies and are confident that we can attract new customers with this added competitive edge".

Pressflow will be moving its operations to Modular Handling's Junction Six Business Park site over the forthcoming weeks and the two companies are currently preparing a joint marketing strategy to promote awareness of their combined "total handling solution".
