Introduction to the UK of the most advanced laser-guided vehicle technology by Excel LazerWay will significantly open the market for this economical method of moving goods around production floors and warehouses (see Figure 1). The versatility of the new system is detailed in a new brochure produced by Excel LazerWay and illustrates some of the diverse applications where industries are already enjoying the financial advantages that AGVs can bring to an operation.

Laser guided vehicle technology overcomes many of the drawbacks traditionally associated with adoption of AGVs - disruption to the workplace for installation of necessary wire guidance system and degradation of tape which may inhibit vehicle performance. In addition to relieving the customer of such problems, the new laser guided system is much more flexible. Whatever the body shape, laser guided vehicles review their directional commands from strategically placed reflectors. To add new routes or change existing flow paths is a matter of re-configuring a software program and fitting additional reflectors. Completion is quick and site disruption is eliminated.

Installing laser guided vehicle systems is a much cleaner operation, opening the market for pharmaceutical, food and electronic industries to harness the benefits of this type of transport system.
