Breakthrough in programming with new ActiveRobot™

Keywords: Robots, Automation

As the authorised UK distributor for the CRS Robotics Corporation, Affordable Automation Limited is now pleased to announce the availability of the latest automation programming software from CRS, the ActiveRobot.

ActiveRobot was developed in response to the overwhelming demand for PC-based control by technical staff. CRS is the very first robot manufacturer to develop such a software package. With ActiveRobot, the entire application can now be programmed on the PC, using the COM-compatible development environment of the user's choice (see Figure 1).

ActiveRobot is a component that encapsulates methods and properties pertaining to CRS robots and will allow programmers to develop their application on the Windows platform. ActiveRobot is a set of 64 bit ActiveX controls for use with Windows 2000 or WindowsNT. It will eradicate the need to learn robot languages, or how to integrate peripherals through the utilisation of third party packages.

By using ActiveRobot, a graphical interface can be developed to monitor the status of the system and even control its functions literally in minutes, using a rapid development environment such as Microsoft Visual Basic, or a third party process control software. Because ActiveRobot is an ActiveX component, it can be used in distributed applications, which means that it can be used across the LAN in the laboratory or factory, or even the Internet, for remote process monitoring or even control.

Les Corps, sales and marketing manager for Affordable Automation Limited comments: "Within a robot system integration project, software is almost always the last to fix and tweak. It is also the component that is most often underestimated in planning. While ActiveRobot will not turn technical staff into great programmers overnight, it will undoubtedly make the lives of technical staff easier and turn software into an advantage rather than a liability. The simple premise of allowing users to program the robot on a PC will appeal to all users of automation systems. New ActiveRobot is a real breakthrough in automation programming".

There are three main benefits for the robotic system integrator in using ActiveRobot: reduction of integration time; the elimination of robot language training; and an overall reduction in costs.

Affordable Automation Limited is always at the leading edge of current trends and the advances in ActiveRobot are unparalleled at this point in time.
