Star Seiko Ltd, a fast-rising comet in the Japanese robot manufacturing industry sky, disclosed development of its new SR Mate 100i robot, which it claims can perform unusual work such as gate cutting and boxing. Thanks to its flexible, multi-joint arms that are capable of making wide motions, it is able to undertake complicated parts insert. This robot can be linked smoothly to further processing. Its low profile solves the low ceiling problem, thus resulting in a greater usage of the robot.

Manufactured as an OEM product for Japan's Fanuc Ltd of Oshino-mure, Minami-tsuru-gun, Yamanashi Prefecture, the SR Mate is available in two models, the 100i for injection moulding machines of up to 100, and the 200i for up to 1,100 and 350 metric tonnes, respectively. The Yamanashi firm is responsible for the design and manufacture of the robot, while Star Seiki is charged with marketing.

Also being marketed is that firm's FMIV series, the latest for injection moulding machines, the 100i for 1,100 tonnes, and the 200i for up to 350 tonnes.

Fanuc again is responsible for designing and manufacturing this robot, Star Seiki for marketing. This new product-driven by DC servomotors, is for unloading and features a new controller STEC-460, developed specifically for the FMIV series. For easy operation, the controller's pendant weighs just 900gm. The three-position enable switch is mounted on the front and back of the pendant to ensure safe operations. Customers enjoy the fact that they can create desired motions using the NC step programmes. Production finish time can be scheduled merely by inputting the desired quantities.
