Burt Doo has joined Barrett Technology as COO to streamline Barrett's operations and introduce Barrett's advanced robotic technologies as productivity solutions to industry.

Shortly after receiving his engineering management degree from Boston University, Mr Doo began his career with a ten-year stint at General Electric (GE), participating in GE's renowned Manufacturing Management Program. In 1970, Burt co-founded Altron Incorporated, a leading manufacturer of sophisticated backplane assemblies and complex high-layer-count printed circuit boards. He helped grow the company from startup to $300 million in annual sales. In 1998, he participated in the merger with Sanmina, keeping the Sanmina name. Sanmina has since grown to a world-class $4billion-a-year manufacturer of sophisticated electronic equipment.

According to Mr Doo, "I had just retired from Sanmina after an exciting, satisfying career. I quickly got bored with retirement and then met Bill". CEO Bill Townsend adds, "I was looking for a CEO to take Barrett to the next level of growth when I met Burt through a mutual friend. Our synergy was immediate and I tried hard to get Burt on board as Barrett's CEO. Burt demurred, opting instead to lead operations and streamline Barrett's manufacturing".

Burt adds, "We have a lot of hard work to do. It takes a great deal of effort to build a world-class manufacturing company, so do not expect any dot-com miracles. But, driven by the ever-growing demand for better productivity tools, Barrett's long-term potential is huge".
