Hot-dogging robot on mini ski jump

Hot-dogging robot on mini ski jump

Keywords: Robots

A robot that can perform mid-air somersaults after launching itself from a ski jump has been developed by a research team at Keio University in Tokyo. The team was led by Kazuo Yoshida, professor at prestigious, private Keio University, at its Faculty of Science and Technology.

Designed to test technology for use in space, the "hot-dogging" robot recently successfully managed a double somersault with a half-twist from a ski jump platform with a 30 degree angle. The robot, which stands 50cm high and weighs 4.5kg, consists of two parts, a head and a trunk that rotate in different directions as it leaves the surface of the slope to execute the midair twist.
