Stäubli, the specialists in multi-axis precision robots, have added a new model to their RX range extending the reach of a standard RX 130 by 60 per cent.

The new model, designated RX 130XL, has a reach, at the wrist, of 2,185mm compared to 1,360mm for the standard RX 130. It has been introduced in response to a growing demand from users for robot arms capable of processing larger parts or servicing a greater footprint of machines (see Plate 2).

Typical uses are for machine loading/unloading, water or plasma jet cutting and the flexible guaging of components and sub assemblies.

The RX 130XL is also available in a RX Paint variant where the greater reach allows large items such as television cases to be painted as well as extending the maximum tray capacity for smaller items like mobile phone covers.

All Stäubli RX robots feature high speed and acceleration and are capable of following complex trajectories even at high speeds. Joint speed ranges up to 1,125 degrees per second. The high degree of accuracy and repeatability make the RX ideal for the performance of detailed, meticulous tasks. At the heart of each RX robot is the patented, unique, JCS gearbox providing zero backlash and consistent performance. User friendly software permits easy programming as well as re-programming to bring the added degree of flexibility often of benefit in automated systems.
