Foster-Miller, Inc., a Waltham, MA, company with offices in Albany, NY, has been awarded a $63.9 million contract for its TALON robots and operator and technician training and spare parts from the Navy.

TALON robots are used by soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan to disarm explosive devices. The latest contract is with the Robot Systems Joint Project Office of the Naval Air Warfare Center Training Systems Division in Orlando, FL. The money will be used to repair robots deployed in the field.

Three weeks ago Foster-Miller was awarded a $28 million contract for repair of TALON robots used by explosive ordnance teams.

“We appreciate the support that NAVAIR is demonstrating for our family of TALON robots” said Dr William Ribich, President and CEO of Foster-Miller in a written statement.

Foster-Miller, Inc., an AS9100 certified company, is an engineering, development and manufacturing company. The Albany offices are located on New Karner Road.

The company has a staff of 300 people and works in robotics, advanced materials, aerospace, homeland security, power systems, biotechnology, medical and life sciences, and transportation.
