www.mobilerobots.com/

This is the site of MobileRobots Inc, (formerly ActivMedia Robotics, LLC). Founded in 1995, MobileRobots Inc. designs and manufactures intelligent mobile bases, sensing systems and software. This site shows the commercial robots available from MobileRobots Inc. and their applications. This is an interesting site to see mobile robots used in everyday tasks.

This address takes you directly to the American Association for Artificial Intelligence's (AAAI) website's AI topics section on robots. This is a special web site provided by the AAAI for students, teachers, journalists, and everyone who would like to explore “what artificial intelligence is, and what AI scientists do”. Here there is a vast quantity of links and articles helping you to find “good places to start” and progress through to advanced robotics. There are further pages for sub-topics including among others industry statistics – robotics, robotic pets and autonomous vehicles. All the AI topic pages are well laid out and contain plenty of useful information they are a little dated in design but that does not distract form the content.

The Swarm-bots web site contains details of the Swarm-bots project which was sponsored by the Future and Emerging Technologies program of the European Community (IST-2000-31010) and aimed to study new approaches to the design and implementation of self- organizing and self-assembling artefacts. All the papers published relating to this project are available to download in pdf format. A nice site demonstrating the results of this project.

www.euron.org/

EUropean RObotics research Network (EURON) is a “community of people with a common interest in working to make better robots”. This site contains lots of information about EURON's activities. There is a very useful list of research groups and links and images relating to their projects. It is not commercial so there are no unsightly advertisements. This site is well worth a visit and spending some time looking at its resources.

Professor Martin Smith's website is a guide for robot builders he's a Visiting Research Professor in Robotics at the Open University. On this site there are lists of robotics books, magazines, CD- ROMs, kits, component suppliers, information sources and events. It covers such things as the “Micromouse” Contest. This is both a fun and educational site and may be of interest for those involved in amateur robot building.
