New robotic loading system allows flexibility for shelf ready packaging lines

Article Type: New products From: Industrial Robot: An International Journal, Volume 38, Issue 5

Increased flexibility for shelf ready packaging lines is being offered by food packaging automation specialists Abar with its new LR-80TCR Loading System. A FANUC Robotics M10-iA robot is the core automation component of the LR-80TCR allowing loading speeds of thermo formed or top sealed rigid trays at speeds of up to 200 ppm.

Each new LR-80TCR Loading System comprises retail pack in-feed conveyors, a case erecting system for regular slotted containers, an LR-80 robot case loader and a case closer.

Designed to comfortably operate duty cycles of 24×7 the FANUC Robotics M10-iA has well proven reliability with low maintenance being a key feature of its design. The system has been designed with future use in mind allowing upgradeability for plastic returnable supermarket crates or other containers.

The FANUC robot has a small footprint in comparison to conventional mechanical case loader/packers making the system ideal where space is restricted. With a choice of case erecting options available and the ability to pack a range of case formats with instant or minimal change times, the system offers users a high degree of flexibility.
