Title: Action teaching system and action teaching methodPublication number: US 2011010009 (A1)Publication date: 13 January 2011Applicant(s): Toyota Motor Co Ltd [JP]

Abstract: To make it possible to teach a grasping action for a work object whose shape and 3D position are unknown to a robot by an intuitive and simple input operation by an operator. A captured image of the working space is displayed on a display device; an operation in which a recognition area including a part of a work object to be grasped by a hand is specified in two dimensions on an image of the work object displayed on the display device is received; an operation in which a primitive shape model to be applied to the part to be grasped is specified from among a plurality of primitive shape models; a parameter group to specify the shape, position, and posture of the primitive shape model is determined by fitting the specified primitive shape model onto 3D position data of a space corresponding to the recognition area; a grasping pattern applicable to grasping of the work object is selected by searching a database in which grasping patterns applicable by a hand to primitive shape models are stored.

Title: Method and system for heating of robots in cold environmentsPublication number: WO 2011095182 (A1)Publication date: 11 August 2011Applicant(s): ABB AG [DE]; Kock Soenke [SE]; Hofschulte Jens [CN]

Abstract: The invention proposes a method for heating of robots in cold environments, whereby the robot possesses permanent magnet brushless or three-phase synchronous motors with three motor phases comprising three stator coils connected to an inverter controllable by a control-unit and with a rotor with permanent magnet excitation. A current is applied to at least one phase, respectively, stator coil of the motor if the motor stands still creating a directed magnetic flux which interacts with the permanent magnets of the rotor in such a way that the resulting torque will be close to zero. Further the invention proposes a system for heating of robots in cold environments whereby the inverters and motors in standstill are used to heat up the critical drive train components, where by at least one supervisory-control-unit monitors the motor temperature in order to avoid overheating.

Title: Method and system for transferring/acquiring operation right of moving robot in multi-operator multi-robot environmentPublication number: US 2011054684 (A1)Publication date: 3 March 2011Applicant(s): Korea Electronics Telecomm [KR]; Samsung Thales Co Ltd [KR]

Abstract: In an operating system having a first controller configured to manage one or more robots included in a first region, and a second controller configured to manage one or more robots included in a second region adjacent to the first region, a method for enabling the second controller to acquire an operation right of N robots (where N is a natural number equal to or greater than 1) operated by the first controller, the method includes: transmitting a control mapping status (CMS) containing an operation right change message to the first controller, upon reception of an operation right request signal from a user of the N robots; and checking a connection status of the N robots, upon reception of the CMS containing the operation right change message from the first controller, and acquiring an operation right by providing CMS acquisition information and control mapping information to the robots included in the second region.
