Welcome to the second volume of Journal of Hospitality and Tourism Technology (JHTT)! What a great year we had. In the inaugural year, we received high-quality papers. We continue to receive high-quality papers in our second year. Producing a quality journal is not an easy task. JHTT would not be possible without our authors, Editorial Advisory Board Members, reviewers, readers, and publishers. I would like to thank each of them individually.

I also would like to take this opportunity to thank my first-year publisher, Ms.Zoe Sanders. Her guidance made my job much easier. Thank you, Zoe! I also would like to welcome my new Publishers, Nicola Codner and new Assistant Publisher Thomas Dark.

With the beginning of a new year, we are witnessing more than ever that information technology is becoming an inseparable part of our lives. Social networking tools are being used by millions of people, soon to be counted with billions. With that, we see how vulnerable electronic information is. Even the most protected information such as US Department of State classified documents are published on the Wikileaks web site. Every day, dozens of hospitality companies such as McDonald’s are breached. Tools such as Firefox Firesheep extension used to breach information on widely used Wi-Fi networks are freely available on the internet. All this brings us to a point where there is a huge need for further research in the field of hospitality and tourism technology. Please keep working on these wonderful research areas and submit them to JHTT.

This first issue in our second volume welcomes five excellent articles. Jungsun (Sunny) Kim and Murat Kizildag contribute with “M-learning: next generation hotel training system”; Nazrul Islam, Sirawit Sirirak and Do Ba Khang with “Does ICT adoption enhance hotel performance?”; Eleonora Pantano and Rocco Servidio with “An exploratory study of the role of pervasive environments for promotion of tourism destinations”; Sofia Reinoa, Andrew J. Frew and Carlos Albacete-Sáez with “ICT adoption and development: issues in rural accommodation” and Annica Isacsson and Ulrike Gretzel with “Facebook as an edutainment medium to engage students in sustainability and tourism.”

I thank all of the contributors for this first issue of second volume. I look forward to seeing your papers.

Have a wonderful 2011!

Cihan Cobanoglu
