are the recipients of the journal's Outstanding Paper Award for Excellence for their paper

“Identifying short-term leading indicators for real estate rental performance”

which appeared in Journal of Property Investment & Finance, Vol. 21 No. 3, 2003

George Matysiak is Professor of Real Estate Investment at the University of Reading Business School and Visiting Professor at the University of Antwerp Management School. His principal areas of research are in real estate pricing, portfolio risk control, appraisal accuracy, leading indicators of real estate performance, performance measurement analysis and the analysis of central and eastern European real estate markets. He has published extensively in property and economics journals on financial investment aspects and property modelling/forecasting. George is co-author, with Gerald Brown, of the textbook Real Estate Investment: A Capital Market Approach. An extensive list of completed projects include the IPF report on Risk Measurement and Management for Real Estate Investment Portfolios and a report for the Corporation of London/RICS City of London Office Supply Demand Model. He is a member of the editorial board of the Journal of Property Research.

Dr Sotiris Tsolacos is with the UK Research team of Jones Lang LaSalle engaging in property forecasting and investment strategy. He is leading a range of projects to inform portfolio decisions such as identifying under- and over-priced locations in the UK. He also has a strong interest in constructing composite leading indicators of property market performance. Tsolacos was previously a lecturer in the Department of Economics at The University of Reading where he also received his PhD. He has carried out extensive modelling and forecasting work on real estate performance and has over 30 papers published in major international property research journals. He is also on the editorial board of the Journal of Property Research and the Board of Directors of the European Real Estate Society, where he was president in 2000-2001.
