    Kybernetes Awards – 2002

    We are grateful to Professor Robert Vallée, the Director-General of WOSC for chairing the panel of judges which selected the award winners for the following awards for excellence sponsored by the publishers Emerald:

    • Literati Club Awards for ExcellenceNominations for the Norbert Wiener Award and three Highly Commended Papers published in Kybernetes Volume 30 1–10, 2001.

    • Kybernetes Research Award – presented for an outstanding paper at the 12th International WOSC Congress and the 14th IIGSS Workshop, Pittsburgh, 2002 together with those papers that merit a high commendation.

    Dr. Alex M. Andrew, the Internet Editor of this journal served on the judging panel for both awards and we would wish to thank him for his much-valued contribution to the selection process.

    In Memoriam – Dr Charles Musès

    Dr Charles Musès was the Director of Research for WOSC as well as a prominent member of the Kybernetes Editorial Advisory Board. A dedication to his contribution to cybernetics and systems will be published as a Special Double Issue in this Volume 31, 2002. issues Nos 7/8.

    Norbert Wiener Institute of Systems and Cybernetics of WOSC

    Information concerning the structure, aims and objectives of the Insitute will be published in this volume of the official journal of WOSC.

    Whilst the many organisations and institutions that are federated members of WOSC are automatically cooperate members of the Institute their individual members are reminded that they are eligible for full membership.

    Associate and full membership is also available to individuals who work in the fields of systems and cybernetics.

    Contributors to Kybernetes – The International Journal of Systems and Cybernetics whose fully refereed papers have been published are not only eligible to be members of the publisher's Literati Club but also are automatically enrolled as Institute members, unless, of course they do not wish to take advantage of the benefits available.

    Members with particular research interests should register them with the Institute Secretariat.

  4. 4.

    12th International WOSC Congress and the 14th IIGS Workshop

    In addition to the publication of full reports of this congress and, subject to copyright, selected papers as a Special Double issue, an additional Special Issue has been arranged on:

    Reconstructability Analysis

    based on the sessions held at the congress. Yi Lin and Zwick (USA) together with Shu (China) will be the Guest Editors.

  5. 5.

    WOSC Sponsorship and Representation at Conferences and Events

    WOSC will again be involved in both sponsorship and participation in numerous meetings/conferences and other events worldwide. This journal as its official publication would wish to remind participants to send their reports directly to the Editorial Team, as soon as possible so that early publication in this section can be ensured.
