New report “CSR in sport: investigating environmental sustainability in UK Premier League football clubs”

This report from the Centre for Business Relationships, Accountability, Sustainability and Society (BRASS) explores the issue of sustainability in sport, and the steps premier league football clubs are taking to address sustainability. The report suggests that, despite having a demanding effect on the physical environment, the sporting industry and its executives have made limited attempts to respond to the challenges of sustainability, particularly with regard to water use, for example. In the report, BRASS uses research carried out by the UK football industry to understand the pressures and motives unique to sport in developing corporate social responsibility (CSR). Other questions considered include: what clubs perceive to be the major social and environmental impacts associated with their business operations; which CSR issues clubs are addressing and how; and how the football industry is engaging key stakeholders in its CSR initiatives.
