Orthodyne Electronics expands sales and technical support in Europe

Keywords: Electronics industry, Acquisitions and mergers

In an effort to meet the needs of a growing European market, Orthodyne Electronics, a leading wire bonding equipment manufacturer based in Irvine, CA, has entered into negotiations to acquire Edling, Germany-based SW-Mikroelektronik GmbH, and has opened a technical support office in Nuremberg, Germany. This expanded presence in Europe strengthens the technical support and local training capabilities for Orthodyne equipment.

The Orthodyne satellite office in Nuremberg is expected to be operational in Q3 2005 and will complement the service of 20-year distribution partner SW-Mikroelektronik. Together, the two locations will operate as Orthodyne Germany GmbH, covering all sales and technical support activities for Germany, Austria, and Eastern Europe. The new facilities offer demonstrations of Orthodyne's small wire, large wire, and PowerRibbon™ equipment and a wide range of support capabilities including training, applications support, spare parts and technical service. When fully staffed, this “Centre of Competence” for small and large wire wedge bonding and ribbon bonding will be available for all Orthodyne representatives and customers throughout Europe.

The European expansion reinforces Orthodyne's steadfast commitment to customer service and after-sales support.
