iSLI Appoints New Members to the Design Team

The Institute for System Level Integration (iSLI) has appointed two new members to their hardware and software design consultancy team. Dr Hui You has been appointed as Senior Researcher to work on the Scottish Consortium in Integrated Micro-Photonic Systems (SCIMPS) project funded by the Scottish Funding Council. Dr Diarmuid O’Connell joins iSLI as an Analogue Electronics Design Engineer to interface with in-house research and the commercial sector as well as introduce new technologies to iSLI’s established MEMs capability.
Hui will work collaboratively on the SCIMPS project for iSLI with Strathclyde, Heriot Watt and Glasgow Universities on highly integrated mixed technology systems based on MEMS, photonics, electronics and micro-fluidics. The main objective of the initiative is to bring true micro-electronic integration and control to instrumentation based upon advanced photonics technology. With strong experience in the research sector, Hui will also generate new research proposals to provide further funding.
Linking iSLI’s MEMs capabilities with the wider electronics world, Diarmuid’s expertise will help to increase the application of new technologies at the centre of design excellence and provide the commercial sector with access to expertise and knowledge transfer for the rapid development of prototypes.

The institute is a collaborative venture of four of the UK’s leading universities: Edinburgh, Glasgow, Heriot-Watt, and Strathclyde, with links to Paisley and Lancaster Universities, drawing on the academic expertise of the universities to deliver leading edge research as well as first class postgraduate lecturing.
