Gardner Merchant is sponsoring a competition which seeks to recognise the efforts of local teams of catering staff in meeting the dietary needs of residents in nursing and residential homes. This is the fourth year of the competition. Teams will be judged on food quality, menu variety, responding to residents nutritional needs and good communication as well as budgetary compliance. Teams are awarded points in each of these areas and are then inspected by an impartial assessor. The winning team will receive £1,000 which is to be used for the direct benefit of the residents in the home. The second prize is £500 and the third £250.
