HGCA makes in-depth cereals research available for health professionals and academics

Home Grown Cereals Authority, in association with the British Nutrition Foundation, has compiled the most comprehensive report to date, "Nutrition Aspects of Cereals". The report is now available direct from HGCA on www.wholegraingoodness.co.uk and is targeted at health professionals, academics and food manufacturers.

Coming at a time when research shows that a third of the population is not eating wholegrain cereals, the report contains some of the most detailed and in-depth reviews on the benefits of wholegrain and cereals. Findings include the reduced risk of heart disease, stroke and diabetes with increasing cereal consumption. Digestive health is also covered in some depth within the report. Studies also suggest that people are better able to maintain healthy weight.

Consumer understanding of the wholegrain message is addressed as well as tables charting the nutritional content of selected cereals and the contribution of cereals to average nutrient intakes in the UK, by age and sex. Background information spanning a wide spectrum from basic definitions of the different wholegrain cereals through to future trends in cereal development helps to make this an invaluable resource.
