Exploring food from farm to fork

Discover the findings of a unique National Life Stories project which explores the changing face of British food culture over the last century at The British Library, 96 Euston Road, London, NW1 2DB.

This event marks the completion of a unique National Life Stories project, Food: from source to salespoint, in which the British Library Sound Archive has collected nearly 300 interviews with consumers and food industry workers which chart the revolutionary changes that have occurred within Britain's food culture within living memory.

The project has led to the production of an interactive and animated website, food stories. Aimed primarily at schools, the website will enable young people to explore the ways in which food production and consumption is inextricably bound to political, economic, cultural and technological change. Ultimately, food stories aims to educate young people about the realities and complexities of food and food production.
