Food and Drink Federation

Article Type: Food facts From: Nutrition & Food Science, Volume 42, Issue 1

Against a backdrop of heightened focus on individual and collective responsibility for public health in the UK, the Food and Drink Federation (FDF) has launched its revised labelling guide for healthcare professionals.

The guide will be used to explain to their patients how guideline daily amount (GDA) labelling can help them choose a healthier diet.

FDF, the voice of the UK food and drink manufacturing industry, supports the role of education in reducing obesity and encouraging a healthy, balanced diet. GDA labels feature on thousands of food products and act as a guide for consumers, showing them the amount of energy and certain nutrients in a product and what percentage of their guideline daily allowance this equates to. By understanding the nutritional make up of food, consumers can better balance their diet.
