Wristband system

Article Type: Food facts From: Nutrition & Food Science, Volume 42, Issue 2

To help caterers pupils choose their lunch in the morning and are given a coloured band to represent their choice. Their selected menu is then passed to the kitchen who prepare the right amount of food. Each day pupils choose what they want and do not have to worry about there being anything left that they will like at lunchtime. In addition, as pupils have already decided before they queue, this greatly speeds up the queue, meaning they can eat their meal and have plenty of time to play outside afterwards. All pupils receive their “first choice” lunch. Parents not only know that their child is guaranteed to get the meal they want, they get piece of mind that they are paying for food that is going to be eaten and enjoyed. This added benefit will result in happy loyal customers. Sending a menu to the parents also means that they can discuss the daily options with their child. Midday staff and teachers will find the dining area a calmer and less stressful place as everyone has made a choice earlier. Quick and simple identification of what pupils have ordered means caterers can serve more quickly and invest conversation time in customer care. In addition, there will be less waste, better portion control and food costings. This means your service will run more efficiently with just the right amount of staffing and stock.
