We are pleased to bring you Volume 30, Issue 4 of the journal. This issue contains articles, which cover several important topics in policing and focus primarily on correlates of officer decisions and behaviors. Our authors explore motivations and behavior of police officers, public opinions of the police and police perceptions of citizen complaints about police behavior. The research reported here was completed in both the USA and Europe, reflecting the international scope of the journal.

In addition to these papers, this issue of the journal also includes our feature sections of “Perspectives,” “Policing on the Web” and a book review. It is an issue of which we are quite proud. We are grateful for the contributions of our authors and encourage our readers to submit articles for consideration.

This is the first issue compiled by the new Assistant Editor, Mr Eric Straeter. Eric is a doctoral student at the University of Cincinnati with an interest in policing and policing research. He has assumed the role of assistant editor, replacing Mr Dan Lytle. Dan has accepted a position on the staff of the Distance Learning Master of Science Degree Program at the University of Cincinnati for next year as he works to complete his doctoral studies. The journal has had the extreme good fortune to have been in his capable hands over the past year and I want to take this opportunity to express my gratitude for his assistance. Thank you Dan.

We are looking forward to an exciting year with the journal. As always, we will continue to strive to present the most recent thinking and research on policing topics, and to reflect the global perspective that has characterized the journal for so many years. We encourage anyone with comments or suggestions to feel free to contact us. We look forward to hearing from you all.
