High purity oxazolidine

High purity oxazolidine

Keywords Curing, ICL

Manufacturer of specialist resins and polymers, Industrial Copolymers Limited (ICL) has launched a high purity bis-oxazolidine curing agent to complement its existing comprehensive range of oxazolidines.

Supplied for use in one component moisture cure polyurethane coatings, sealants and elastomers, ICL informs us that Incozol HP promotes fast through-cure without carbon dioxide gassing. Unlike the traditional moisture curing mechanism, moisture reacts preferentially with Incozol HP as opposed to isocyanate, thereby preventing typical surface defects such as hazing, pin-holing, downglossing and bubbling. The product's high purity, solvent free formulation demonstrates excellent stability with a shelf life of over six months in unopened containers.

Incozol HP may reportedly be used in a variety of applications due to its versatility as either a di- or tetra-functional curing agent. In one component systems it may be used with aliphatic (IPDI or TMXDI) prepolymers, and in two component systems it can be used with aromatic prepolymers or isocyanates. It is ideal for use in high build applications, such as anti-corrosion coatings, deck and construction sealants and waterproof coatings for balconies, roofing or tanking.

ICL's Incozol range also includes Incozol 2 a mono-oxazolidine moisture scavenger, Incozol LV a bis-oxazolidine reactive diluent for use in the production of low VOC polyurethane coatings, and Incozol 4 a bis-oxazolidine curing agent in applications such as polyurethane floor and wall coatings and anti-corrosive top coats.
