In GB Patent 2314845 Shell Internationale Research Maatschappij B.V. describe a primer composition. It comprises a hydrogenated elastomeric block copolymer having at least two resinous endblocks of polymerised monovinyl aromatic compound, preferably styrene, and an elastomeric midblock of polymerised conjugated diene, preferably butadiene or isoprene. The copolymer further includes an endblock compatible resin as well as a graft derived from an unsaturated monomer containing a functional group or derivative, typically maleic anhydride. A method of bonding a material to a metal strip is also disclosed. This comprises the steps of coating the metal strip with the primer, drying the primed metal strip, bending the primed metal strip into a desired shape, and applying the material to the primed metal strip. The primer is particularly useful in the construction of double glazed insulated windows.
