The new Mikrocut classifier from Hosokawa MikroPul claims exceptional classification results in the fine to ultra fine range with classification below three micron possible on many materials (Plate 7).

With applications ranging through classification of powder coatings, food, pharmaceuticals, filler and more, the Mikrocut transports air and feeding material to the circumferential zone of the rotor where particles are classified in a fine and coarse fraction.

Plate 7 The Mikrocut has been developed by Hosokawa

Fine material follows the air flow through the rotor whereas coarse particles are deflected. The Mikrocut can be used either for separation of coarse particles from final product or fine particles from final product.

The Mikrocut's rotor design generates circumferential acceleration up to 15,600g, which renders extremely high yields and an excellent sharpness of cut.

Total efficiency is maintained by air purged rotor clearances which ensure that no oversize particles enter into the fines fraction while the easy access design allows quick internal inspection and facilitates cleaning operations.

For such a high performance classfier the pressure drop is said to be relatively low, which offers operational savings and the possibility to operate on in line systems with fine grinding air classifier mills such as the Mikro ACM.

Available in a range of sizes, the Mikrocut has been developed by Hosokawa to give the absolute optimum in classification performance throughout its applications.
