Disposable gas and vapour respirator

Disposable gas and vapour respirator

Keywords Moldex, Respirators

Believed to be ideal for use in any application where combinations of gases, vapours and fine particulates may be found, the new Moldex 5000 Series claims a fresh approach to disposable, half-mask respiratory protection. Supplied pre-assembled and ready for use, it is light in weight, comfortable to wear and completely maintenance free.

Low in cost, the 5000 Series comprises a single facepiece and twin, integral, activated charcoal cartridges. Available in A1, A2 and ABEK configurations, these cartridges are designed for use until breakthrough occurs, i.e. when the contaminant can be detected by either taste or smell.

Conforming to EN405, these respirators also benefit from a strategically placed exhalation valve with protective grille to ensure low breathing resistance and provide optimum protection.

In addition, they feature the new Moldex patented particle filter disc system which utilises a simple push-fit design to enable P1, P2SL or P3S/SL filters to be fitted over the gas filters.

Said to be unlike other disposable, gas and vapour cartridge respirators where the particulate filter system is integral to the facepiece, this Moldex design concept enables clogged dust filters to be replaced quickly and easily.

As a result, the life of the gas and vapour cartridge is prolonged and the costs, to the user, are significantly reduced.

In order to reduce the overall respirator weight whilst improving comfort, Moldex has also developed a dual material, injection moulded design. Combining a rugged, polyproplene outer facepiece with a Kraton, cushion-fit inner face seal, this specially designed Moldex material ensures a soft, lightweight and secure fit to the face. (Kraton is a soft, thermoplastic material which is odourless and, unlike silicone, can be used in paint spraying applications.)

Ergonomically designed, the 5000 Series also claims a new, low profile design which offers improved comfort and performance when worn with other protective devices such as goggles and helmets.

Offering cool protection even in high heat environments, it is also completely maintenance free and, as a result, is reportedly exempt from record keeping requirements.

Light brown in colour, the 5000 Series is the result of extensive user research and forms part of a new generation of lightweight, comfortable, disposable and reusable half-mask respirators from Moldex. Featuring interchangeable particulate filter discs throughout the Moldex 4000, 5000 and 8000 Series, this new filtering protection range has been designed with the needs of both industry and the user in mind.
