When Weilburger (UK) Limited was launched in the UK in 1981, it distributed speciality industrial paints for non-stick, high temperature, decorative and low friction applications as a member of the German Grebe Group. Coatings for plastics for the teltronics and automotive industries soon followed along with coatings for glass packaging and coil coating. In 1989, manufacturing began from the present purpose-built plant and offices at Runcorn and, since that time, the company has maintained its objective of providing customers with outstanding products, technical innovation, advice and personal service.

During the past decade, the coatings for plastics sector has grown significantly and its role within the company has assumed ever greater importance. This has led to a close working relationship with its German sister company, Schramm Lacke of Offenbach. Schramm is thought to be Germany's oldest paint company dating back to 1810. Today, it is one of Europe's leading manufacturers of soft feel, environmentally friendly coatings for the finish of automotive interior plastic components such as dashboards and trim. The company informs us that it is its intention to build further on this co-operation and, in order to formalise its direction and reflect it accurately, it has made the decision to change the company name from Weilburger (UK) Limited to Weilburger Schramm Coatings.
