An interesting and informative site, provided by International Marine Coatings, a member of the Akzo Nobel group of companies, which can be found at http://www.international-marine.com The site offers several categories of information to the visitor, including company news, contacts, data sheets and the environment. However, some of these sections are protected and to gain access it is necessary for the visitor to register with the host.

Of particular interest is International Coating's environmental site. This contains abstracts of papers and documents on coatings and the environment, particular attention being paid to the subject of antifouling. Summaries relating to current and proposed legislation and regulations involving coatings can also be found on this site. The full text of these documents can be downloaded.

The site's homepage clearly lists all the available sections. Current news headlines are also displayed as well as a featured product. The sections listed as data sheets and contacts are only available on registration. The registration form is available on the Homepage. Adobe Acrobat Reader is required to view many of the documents found on this site.

An extensive profile of the company can be obtained by clicking on to "The Company". The visitor is then given a choice of six sections; these include company background, markets, technical services, distribution, R&D and coating performance monitor.

By clicking on to "Documents" you are given the choice of viewing technical documents, company brochures or the IMC's house journal Propeller Direct, although I found this slow to download. However, the quality of the articles and the information provided by this publication made the wait worthwhile.

News items are displayed in abstract form. Full text can be obtained by clicking on to the item of interest.

Also to be found on the Homepage is a section entitled "Feedback". One click and a window appears providing the visitor with the opportunity to comment, by way of e-mail, on the company's products, make suggestions and ask questions.

The site is easy to navigate and provides those visitors involved in marine protection and maintenance with a wealth of information and data.
