Amba Lamps Ltd, of Banbury, UK, informs us that it is now part of the Heraeus Noblelight Group of companies and will trade as Heraeus Amba Ltd. The acquisition further enhances Heraeus's position in ultraviolet (UV) technology and provides Amba with the backing and technical resource of a multinational organisation.

Under the new structure, the manufacture of Heraeus Amba's existing range of mercury UV lamps will continue at the Banbury factory. These lamps, which are produced to the highest quality standards to ensure fitness for purpose and long working life, are used to cure inks and varnishes, predominantly in the printing sector. In addition, the company will now be able to offer complementary products from the Heraeus range. The combined range of products will be available worldwide through Heraeus's distribution and sales network and through the former Amba network.

Craig Wenlock, managing director of the new Heraeus company, says:

We are now in a position to provide an even more comprehensive service to our existing and new customers. We have access to what is probably the best technical resource for UV in the world and we can now call upon Heraeus's expertise in other areas of radiation curing and drying, such as Excimer UV and infra-red technology, to ensure that customers are provided with the most effective and most efficient solutions to drying and curing problems. In addition, by combining the worldwide sales outlets of Heraeus and Amba I am looking forward to a significant increase in sales opportunities for the ever-expanding range of Heraeus Amba products.
