LabSystems announces the latest release of its laboratory focused Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS), Nautilus 2000 Release 1, now shipping to customers worldwide.

Nautilus is LabSystems' all-new LIMS, focused on providing laboratory productivity and reducing the cost of ownership of LIMS to customers. Nautilus 2000 R1 is the first Nautilus release this year with a further two releases planned before 2001.

With radically reduced implementation times and patent pending technology eliminating the need for customization, Nautilus is said to be already delivering a return on investment to many customers.

Nautilus 2000 R1 is reported to deliver a range of new functionality enhancements and product deliverables including:

  • a fully integrated XML (eXtensible Markup Language) based import/export module;

  • extended statistical calculation functionality;

  • enhanced workstation security; and

  • Windows 2000 and Windows Terminal Server support.

In addition to these enhancements, approximately 150 minor enhancements and bug fixes are reported to have been included in this release.

In providing support for Windows Terminal Server, Nautilus can be deployed to client workstations using an ultra thin client. This approach is thought to significantly reduce system management and administration overheads leading to further reduced cost of ownership for customers.

Employing XML in the Nautilus import/export module is said to be a major advance in improving the flow of data and information between the different software systems found in a typical laboratory. Integrating LIMS with other laboratory IT systems is a key factor in generating a return on investment for customers, resulting in enhanced productivity through automation together with improved data integrity.

According to LabSystems, Nautilus 2000 R1 has undergone a full testing cycle and includes an automated Installation Qualification kit on the distribution CD. Additionally, the full Nautilus 2000 R1 Validation Kit is available as an optional module. This, Labsystems believes, radically reduces the time and effort required by customers to validate Nautilus for use in regulated environments, further reducing the cost of ownership to clients.

As a major version release, Nautilus 2000 Release 1 will be automatically sent to all customers under warranty or on a valid support contract. For information on the way Nautilus can transform your laboratory, and a free of charge demonstration CD-ROM, e-mail directly to: info@labsystems.com
