Chemists working in the coatings field have long used tables of raw materials on a daily basis. This important reference work is at home not only in the laboratory but also in commercial departments. It was last updated eight years ago, so the new revised version which has now appeared – as ever, under the expert eye of Olaf Lückert – was long overdue.

The 10th edition of this weighty work, which is in tabular form, provides comprehensive information about the coatings raw materials available on the market: it is divided into 38 main chapters (and subdivided in detail into individual chapters) and covers such topics as natural binders, polyesters, phenolic resins, urea resins, melamine resins, polyterpene resins, polyvinyl alcohol, polyvinyl acetals, polyvinyl acetates and dispersions, polyvinyl chloride, polyvinyl ethers, polyvinyl propionate dispersions, poly(meth)acrylates and copolymers, polystyrenes, polyolefins, coumaronelindene resins, polyhydantoin, polyamide imide, napthalene, formaldehyde and furan resins, hydrocarbon resins, ketone and aldehyde resins, aromatic formaldehyde resins, carbamic acid resins, sulphonamide resins and chlorinated paraffin resins, polyamide resins, nitrocellulose, other cellulose compounds, rubber, rubber derivatives and latices, silicone compounds, butyl titanate, polyurethanes, epoxy resins, unsaturated synthetic resins, waxes, plasticisers, emulsifiers, driers, solvents and coating aids.

The index and chapter headings are printed in four languages, namely German, English, French and Italian. Where necessary, at the beginning of the chapter the author gives explanations of basic terms, and of course for every product the "Remarks" column gives information in brief. The abbreviations used are explained separately.

An index of manufacturers, representatives and dealers completes this multi-purpose and indispensable reference work.
