Researchers, technologists and engineers can now attend technical seminars without having to travel, thanks to new interactive e-learning tools from Malvern Instruments, whose on-line and laboratory-based particle characterisation systems are used in manufacturing industry world-wide.

Malvern Instruments’ e-learning initiative delivers a highly varied programme of web-based particle characterisation seminars and training sessions to a user’s desktop. With the option of participating in these events as they happen live, accessing on demand a recorded presentation, or downloading presentations for later review, e-learning offers the ultimate in convenience.

E-learning is becoming increasingly popular as a solution for meeting, training and continuing development needs. Travel restrictions and pressures on time and budgets are affecting the mobility and availability of many people who would need to attend seminars and training sessions. E-learning means users can gain all the benefits of attending a seminar in person, while tailoring the programme to suit their schedule and focusing on areas of particular interest.

Stated to be delivered at no charge, the live web seminars require only access to a telephone line and an Internet connection. For pre-recorded on demand presentations users require an Internet connection to a PC with a soundcard and speakers.

The seminar programme includes a wide range of topics, covering all aspects of particle characterisation. These include training sessions on the application of Malvern’s own range of systems as well as presentations about particle characterisation research being carried out world-wide.

To view the seminar programme and to register for e-learning, visit Malvern Instruments’ events Web site at www.malvernevents.com.

E-learning is just one of the many new features on Malvern Instruments’ new Web site. The site www.malvern.co.uk has a new look and improved navigation that is targeted to customer needs. This means that novices in particle technology can search simply by selecting the desired measurement parameter, while more advanced users can explore according to specified technology. Similarly, anyone already familiar with Malvern’s products can search directly via the product name.

In addition there is a major increase in the amount of downloadable information – not only about products but also technology and applications information as well as industry solutions – making it a valuable and growing resource for anyone working with particles.
