Waste management award for chemical company

Preston-based Industrial Copolymers were recently awarded an Environmental Waste Management Award in recognition of the company’s continued commitment to the development of environmentally sustainable products and management of environment impact. Industrial Copolymers manufacture high performance specialist polymers and resins for a diverse range of applications including for use in the automotive industry, hygienic coatings and printing processes. They have always been environmentally conscious and have grown to become a world-class organisation, supplying customers across the globe. Professor Glyn Morton – head of the Centre for Waste Management at the University of Central Lancashire – presented the award, which also acknowledges the company’s contribution to the Centre for Waste Management Project. Through this project Industrial Copolymers has made substantial progress in minimising waste and improving its energy efficiency, which is in accordance with their commitments made through their certification to the Environmental Management Standard ISO 14001. Commenting on the award Professor Morton said, “It is a great pleasure to acknowledge the considerable efforts Industrial Copolymers has made to make their products and their operations as environmentally sustainable as possible. The company has spent a significant amount of time and resources developing products that perform effectively without releasing large quantities of potentially harmful solvent into the atmosphere”.
