Regulations pushing towards the recycling of electrical and electronic equipment

In order to reduce waste generated by old electrical and electronic equipment stringent regulations (like WEEE) force manufacturers to develop easy to recycle flame retarded materials as well as halogen-free solutions.

With traditional halogen-free FR systems, mechanical recycling of plastic like PC/ABS – a material intensively used for enclosures – generally leads to a loss of mechanical, thermal and FR performances. This loss of properties often limits recyclability or reduces the added amount of recycled materials during manufacturing.

Hopefully, new generation of halogen-free FR provides PC/ABS alloys with outstanding retention of performance after recycling even under severe conditions.
