Akzo Nobel Powder Coatings in the USA has been recognized with the presentation of two awards

The business recently received the 2006 Market Leadership Award from business research and consulting firm Frost & Sullivan and a Continuous Improvement Award from US office furniture and interiors company Haworth.

Commenting on the Frost & Sullivan honor, General Manager of Akzo Nobel Powder Coatings – Americas Region, Mike Cash, said: “We are honored to be named the 2006 Market Leadership winner”.

“This prestigious award clearly recognizes our concerted efforts to be aggressive and innovative in bringing new products to market, extending ourselves into new market segments, and assembling a team of highly skilled professionals to drive success.”

He went on: “While many of our competitors are concerned about the future of powder coatings in North America, we are truly optimistic about the growth opportunities in the market. We look forward to using this recognition to spur our future efforts to be successful and continue our growth in the North American powder coatings sector.”

The Haworth award was presented in recognition of the company's excellence as a supply partner. When handing over the honor, Fred Rutan – Haworth's Global Purchasing Director – said: “This award is presented to Akzo Nobel for delivering on all aspects of their long-term supply agreement.”

“We entered into a long-term agreement to drive improvements in application techniques to reduce total consumption, drive to one formulation for all operations in the United States and drive down total cost. They delivered on these portions of the agreement two years early.”

He added that Haworth and Akzo Nobel are now working to revise and extend the agreement to include all of North America and Haworth's global operations, including Europe and Asia.
