Architectural coatings for the green age

Two-Day International Conference

27-28 October 2009

Nice, France

This conference will bring together the major players in the architectural coatings community to discuss the future direction of the market and, in particular, the impact of current concerns about environmental sustainability. This meeting of professionals with shared interests is an ideal occasion for networking and to gain a better understanding of market dynamics and opportunities.

The conference will be of interest and value to all those involved in any of the links in the architectural coatings supply chain: raw material suppliers; paint manufacturers; equipment suppliers; paint retailers; specifiers and; architects. Papers on innovations in both technical and marketing topics in the do-it-yourself and professional decorative paint markets will be included (Table I).

Venue

The conference is being held at the Four Star Hotel Westminster, situated on the Promenade des Anglais in Nice, a short distance from Nice airport. With a style dating back to the Belle Epoque, the hotel offers all the modern conveniences of the twenty-first century.

Speakers

We are seeking papers from a broad range of organisations drawn from the entire supply chain, including raw material and service suppliers, paint manufacturers, retailers, end-users (architects and specifiers), consultants and academics. Authors of new work describing technical and marketing developments in architectural coatings, which address the future direction of the industry, are invited to submit papers to the conference organisers. These will be selected on the basis of novelty of the subject matter and relevance to the overall subject of the conferences. Papers which are principally commercial in nature will not be accepted.

The conference will be held in English, so abstracts and papers must be written and presented in English. The oral presentation will be approximately 25 min, followed by 5 min for discussion. Speakers from commerical organisations will be charged £350, and academic speakers £200 (inclusive of all conference material and the conference dinner). There will be an early registration discount of 10 per cent applicable to all speakers.

The conference program will address innovations in catalyst and process technologies, additive systems and compounding techniques, as well as trends in key markets. On 24-25 February, SPE will also host a series of one-and two-day seminars in conjunction with the Polyolefins Conference.

“For over three decades, the SPE Polyolefins Conference has consistently attracted exhibitors, presenters, and attendees from around the globe,” said conference chair Don Witenhafer. “Even in the challenging economic environment of 2009, over 450 people attended the most recent conference to hear more than 80 technical presentations. The event also provided more than 60 exhibitors and sponsors with the opportunity to market to the industry’s technical leaders.”

SPE co-sponsors of Polyolefins 2010 include the South Texas Section, the Flexible Packaging Division, the Thermoplastic Materials and Foams Division and the Polymer Modifiers and Additives Division.
