Jotun becomes main coatings supplier at RM Eolica’s wind tower factory in Brazil

Article Type: Industry news From: Pigment & Resin Technology, Volume 39, Issue 2

Jotun Brasil has painted 15 onshore towers for RM Eolica, a newly opened wind tower factory in Brazil, and has become the main supplier to RM Eolica. RM Eolica, a part of the Spanish Gonvarri Group, recently opened a new wind turbine manufacturing facility in Pernambuco in Brazil. With investments totalling $32 million, the plant has capacity to produce minimum 400 towers annually, and thereby double the Brazilian production capacity. The first 15 towers were acquired from Danish Vestas, the world’s leading supplier of wind power solutions. Another 17 offshore towers are yet to be produced and covered with Jotun paint. The type of wind towers presently being produced in Brazil, consumes approximately 500 L of coatings each. The paint volume will increase as the wind towers grow larger.
