Jotun Paints secures the Dubai Metro

Article Type: Industry news From: Pigment & Resin Technology, Volume 39, Issue 2

Jotun Dubai has added another project to its portfolio with its contribution towards making Dubai Metro an example of a state-of-art metro rail project. Jotun supplied more than three million liters of paint to protect and decorate the Middle East’s first urban train network, which is also one of the most advanced rail systems in the world. Approximately 1.7 million liters of protective coatings and 1.4 million liters of decorative paints were used within the first line of the Dubai Metro, which opened in September this year. Jotun Paints will also deliver its products for the remaining phases within the Red Line and the entire Green Line, which are expected to be fully opened to the public by 2010. Once the 20 km Green Line opens, the Dubai Metro will take over the title of the longest automated metro network in the world, from Vancouver SkyTrain, surpassing it by 3 km. The Dubai metro is projected to carry approximately 1.2 million passengers on an average day.
