Pickersgills offers perfect powder coating skills for DSK Engineering

Article Type: Industry news From: Pigment & Resin Technology, Volume 42, Issue 1

Pickersgill Electroplating Ltd’s powder coating expertise is being put to the test in some of the toughest industrial environments in the world and is passing with flying colours, according to a leading structural fabricator.

Pontefract-based subcontractor DSK Engineering Ltd is praising the part played by fellow Yorkshire company Pickersgills for the success of a range of protective products it manufactures, which not only have to withstand extreme temperatures but also endure the rough treatment and mishandling that can occur to the items in transit, distribution centres and warehouses.

DSK has over 30 years’ experience handling everything from small, basic steel fabrication and erection jobs to large, elaborate projects and counts well-known supermarket chains, interior design companies, transport firms and housing associations among its client base.

Pickersgills pre-treats and powder coats different-shaped and sized items made by DSK, and it is the attention to detail as well as excellent customer service, that makes it stand out from the crowd and ensures the long-standing relationship between the two companies.

DSK’s development manager, Tris Allison, said: “Pickersgills powder coat a variety of products including steel tool boxes destined for Russia, that have to withstand extreme temperatures, “goal posts” to protect warehouse structures from fork lift trucks and high visibility bollards to guide HGVs into parking bays. They always do an excellent job.

“We’re always confident that the finish from Pickersgills, whether we need it hardwearing or attractive point of sale presentation or both, will be perfect and there are never any repercussions from our customers. They also provide excellent service, turnaround times and a competitive price. Nothing is too much trouble and I would certainly recommend them to other companies.”

It is the level of customer care, the fast lead times for which the business is renowned in the industry, and the high quality of the finished product that results in continuing business for Pickersgills from manufacturing firms such as DSK Engineering.

Pickersgills has the ability to powder coat different-sized items in small and large quantities as well as provide a full spectrum of colours and gloss levels, including ant-bacterial paint specially formulated to actively inhibit the growth of bacteria on equipment in sectors such as healthcare, medical, food, leisure and childcare.

Its bespoke spray booth, gas oven and track system provides Pickersgills with the flexibility to work as both an off-line batch oven, for larger items, or with an automatic tracking system as an integral part of the production line.

Pickersgill business development manager, Michael Pease, said: “DSK Engineering can pretty much turn their hand to anything and send us items in various shapes and sizes for powder coating. We work closely with them to ensure that the finishing is of the highest quality and durable enough to withstand the toughest punishment, which is paramount for their products.”

In addition to powder painting, Pickersgills offers a wide range of metal finishing solutions including pre-treatments such as chromating, phosphating and blasting, electroplating processes, with zinc, nickel and chrome, anodising and polishing all completed entirely in-house to ensure a complete and consistent finish.
