Special Issue on Emerging systems educational quality assessment in developing countries

As the world economy is rapidly moving towards a knowledge based one, there is an intense activity in a all countries to develop effective systems for monitoring the performance of educational institutions. While such moves have been controversial in many countries, the developing nations have been having particular difficulties in view of the relative lack of sophistication of administrative infrastructure both at the governmental and institutional levels. Over the years Quality Assurance in Education had carried a number of articles highlighting issues from such countries in different continents. The aim of the issue is to present in one volume multiple perspectives on the issues faced by developing nations in relation to quality assurance systems. The articles should be research-based ones looking at different aspects of quality systems for education in developing countries. They may either take a critical look at the issues from institutional perspective or from a from a national one. Alternatively, the articles may look at the social issues in developing/monitoring such systems.

  • Issues in the development of national quality assessment systems.

  • Institutional perspectives on developing effective quality systems.
