The Road to Innovation

Article Type: Resources From: Strategic HR Review, Volume 11, Issue 5

Cris Beswick and David Gallagher,Let’s Think Beyond Publishing,ISBN: 978-0-9564858-0-9

This book is about moving beyond the buzz of “innovation” to address what it means in the business world and how to develop it. The focus is on the process or journey – the Road to Innovation – and how to create the right conditions for innovation, rather than on the destination, such as a new brand or product.

The book is based on the views and experience of Chris Beswick, an author, speaker and specialist in helping organizations to understand innovation. It takes the reader through seven key elements required of a business looking to think more innovatively and create an environment where innovative ideas can grow – strategy, people, community, environment, creativity, risk and leadership.

It is succinct and easy to read. While inspirational, it also includes practical tips to help organizations begin to tackle the seven elements of innovation and start them on the journey. And, regardless of the end destination, the journey itself should release more value to the organization. It moves away from the seemingly huge pressure of today to do something innovative and instead looks at how to do things better and achieve change through a new mindset.
