The Protimeter System 996 Precision Humidity Measurement System moves into the automotive sector. System 996 is supplied to Cosworth for use on engine test development. It measures the moisture content of intake air to the inlet manifold through assimilated rigs to assist in the calculation of engine performance for the Indy car type vehicles and Formula One Stewart Ford cars.

Protimeter System 996

Cosworth conducted trials in their engine development laboratories. Resulting from these trials, they opted for the Protimeter System 996, as the one most suitable and adaptable for their circumstances.

The System 996 is the fifth generation of cycling chilled mirror dewpoint and humidity hygrometer produced by Protimeter. It represents a commitment to develop a product to meet the ever increasing market demand for accurate, reliable and economical humidity measurement. The result is a significant step forward ­ the System 996 features a complete precision chilled mirror hygrometry system in a probe.

The dewpoint measurement range covered by the System 996 is from ­40°C to +90°C and accuracy of ±0.2°C is typical.
