Remote vessel management with Mobileyes

Remote vessel management with Mobileyes®

Keyword: Monitoring

Thames Side – Maywood has become the worldwide distributor of the Mobileyes® monitoring service for vessel weighing applications. Mobileyes® utilises patented wireless GSM technology to enable remote monitoring of all linked vessels using any internet web browser or WAP mobile phone. No PC software is required. In addition, Mobileyes® sends e-mails, faxes or SMS text messages to any mobile phone when specified alert situations occur (Plate 3).

Mobileyes® monitoring units are installed on site and linked to the load cells' data management system. The monitoring units communicate to a dedicated, password protected Web site via SMS text messaging using a standard SIM card. The Mobileyes® web monitor then generates management reports in the form of dynamic web pages, which can be viewed via a PC or WAP phone from anywhere in the world.

The Web site also enables alert parameters to be set, and the Mobileyes® units will contact specified phones and e-mail addresses when these are met. For example, a unit can send a text message warning to a mobile phone when there is a low level in a silo, or if there is a danger of overfill. It will also send a further text message once action has been taken and the situation is no longer a concern.

The Mobileyes® Web site provides near real-time displays of vessels' contents. Two-way communication allows the user to individually poll each Mobileyes® site to obtain up-to-date information. Graphical displays of current and historical data allow problem equipment or problem sites to be easily spotted and are also useful for vendor managed inventory (VMI) sites. The immediate identification of alarms is also available through a "dashboard" display. Device specific information, and alarm history, is also accessible. All parameters can easily be altered via the Web site. Automated backups ensure data integrity, and the units will continue to operate during a power failure.
