Finding out what research has been carried out and what it means for practice can be a time consuming and frustrating business. The RICS Research Findings Series is invaluable, by offering concise summaries of all research projects funded by the RICS, as well as major research projects funded elsewhere. The research findings provide concise four-page summaries, concentrating on the key findings of the research, and provide details of further reading on the topic, should the reader want to investigate the research further. They are topical, relevant and easy to assimilate. As a way of keeping abreast of the latest thinking, they are an invaluable aid. They can be used for Continuing Professional Development purposes.

Recent research findings have looked at:

  • the re-use of Victorian and Edwardian hospitals and asylums;

  • the impact of competitive fee tendering on service quality;

  • an assessment of computerised maintenance management systems;

  • the development of local authority property management;

  • the role of private finance in encouraging urban regeneration.

RICS Research Findings are available free of charge from Stephen Brown, Research Officer, RICS, 12 Great George Street, London SW1P 3AD. Tel: 0171 334 3725; E-mail: sbrown@rics.org.uk
