National health and safety improvement targets
The HSC has published a progress report on the Government's health and safety targets for the first decade of the century for reducing work-related fatalities, injuries, days off work and ill-health in Britain. The report is available at www.hse.gov.uk/aboutus/reports. A particular problem area highlighted by this first report is an increase in slips and trips due to poorly maintained pavings by local authorities.
