New fire risk assessor scheme

Warrington Certification, in partnership with the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), has developed a certification scheme for fire risk assessors. For individuals affiliated to the RICS, the scheme provides the basis for entry onto a register of fire risk assessors held and managed by the RICS. The scheme has been developed in response to requirements of the new Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 that requires a fire risk assessment on a variety of buildings and structures used by the general public to be carried out and subsequently maintained by “competent persons”. Candidates will therefore need to demonstrate their competence to carry out the fire risk assessment for a particular situation. As a result, the Warrington Certification scheme will be a competent persons scheme, complying with the requirements of ISO/IEC 17024:2003 – General Requirements for Bodies Operating Certification of Persons.
